Fred's Team - NYC Marathon

This will be my 10th year participating in the New York Marathon as a member of  Fred’s Team.  Fred's Team is a dedicated group of dedicated runners with the common goal of raising funds for innovative cancer research and treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  Named in honor of legendary runner and creator of the New York City Marathon, Fred Lebow, Fred’s Team has raised over $25 million since its inception, most of which is earmarked for pediatric cancer research.  

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is the nation’s preeminent center for research and treatment devoted exclusively to cancer. Since its founding in 1884, Memorial Sloan-Kettering has led the way in generating new insights into the disease and offering the most advanced patient care. The Center’s physicians and scientists are today working at the forefront of efforts to develop new and better approaches to risk assessment, prevention, early detection, and increasingly accurate diagnosis of cancer in all its forms.  I am a cancer survivor myself, largely due to a treatment developed by MSKCC researchers.

Coming in December to Port Washington

Help us make the holidays a bit brighter for some youngsters less fortuate than we are. 

 Join Port Washington Skating and the US Marine Corps Reserve in the annual drive.

 Bring an unopened small toy or gift to the rink for collection and distribution by Sgt. Montiero and the Marines of 2nd battalion 25th Marines.

 Cleaning out closets for the winter?

 Save those coats that no longer fit and bring them to the Port Washington Skating Center.

  We will hold them for pick up and distribution by the New York Rangers Hockey Club for distribution to those in need.

RANGERS VS ISLANDERS AT NASSAU COLISEUM 

THURSDAY DEC. 17  7:00 PM

 Here's a chance to see both of your favorite local teams battle it out and get to see the Mites from the LI EDGE Travel program on ice betweeen periods.

Special offer for participants in any Port Washingtonm Skating Center program --- Purchase tickets through the rink office for group seats in the center 300 section for $70.00 and receive an equal number of ticket FREE for the Jan. 26 Islander vs Washington Capitals game.  Call 484-6800 or stop in the rink office.  Deadline for this offer is Dec. 1.
